Global collaborative art project, co-authored by Adam Broomberg, involving more than 200 artists, musicians, writers and art professionals from 40 countries. Hands Off Our Revolution was launched on 16 February 2017 and aimed to confront the rise of rightwing populism in Europe, the US and elsewhere, resulting in a series of planned exhibitions and events around the world. Participants and contributors were critically engaging with political and social realities, bringing statements to the public attention, questioning and reflecting on the state they were in.
The project was started on November 9th, after the election of Donald Trump and began with a manifesto jointly composed with Adam’s students at Hamburg’s Hochschule für bildende Künste (HFBK).
“We believe that art can help counter the rising rhetoric of right-wing populism, fascism and the increasingly stark expressions of xenophobia, racism, sexism, homophobia and unapologetic intolerance.”
“As artists, it is our job and our duty to reimagine and reinvent social relations threatened by right-wing populist rule.”
